My take on Midlife Crisis

Oct 19 2019;

This is not a gist from reading a book on midlife crisis. It is my attempt to express my observation and share my feelings. After almost ~15 years from my last blog I feel like writing this one. May be that is midlife crises?

The realization of limited possibilities seems like the issue here. When we were 5 we had unlimited possibilities. We could jump on sofa and see if it breaks in 100 jumps or a 1000. We could wake up in the middle of the night and decide to pee on the bed and see what happens, everything was up for try and there would be no consequences.

Grow up a bit and the possibilities shrink and pressure increase to select subjects, sports, schools, friends. The freedom is limited by pressure, because now you cannot select without consequences your parents and the world makes you logical and all your decisions are suppose to have a purpose. We build ambitions to earn money, be famous, play sport, get A+ etc.

However, by the time you are about 40 the ambitions have played out there is hardly any options left in life. You are tied to your kids classes, school, friends, family, mortgage, cleaning, cooking and there are almost no real possibilities. Or atleast the feeling that there are no possibilities sets the midlife crisis.

I wonder why is this a men phenomenon and why do women not fall in this trap? I thought a lot but women were never my cup of tea, I pass, feel free to comment and let me know what you think. I hope to get some learning that can help the men of mankind!
